Despite one of its own departments earmarking the site for affordable housing in Sea Point to help redress some of the injustices of apartheid era planning, the Western Cape government went ahead and sold the Tafelberg School property to the highest bidder. However, the sale was halted on a technicality when the law centre, Ndifuna Ukwazi, took the provincial government to court. A new process was ordered and this time there were over 8 000 submissions to the provincial government for and against affordable housing on the site. Carte Blanche takes a look at this divided community.
